Robin,
I'm running myth 0.19 (home build on Fedora core 2) and I have none of the issues that you're having. Could you possibly capture a backend trace and an mvpmc trace with -M enabled so that I can take a look at it and see if there's info in there that might give an indication of the problem? Just attach both of these to an email and post to the list.
