I haven't attempted to get this to work myself, but supposedly with new 
versions of MythTV you want to use the "New Live TV" option (latest 
dongles have merged these two options), and you'll need to have the 
database parameters configured, as documented here:

I think NFS was initially used as the way to view video from MythTV 
before support for streaming over MythTV protocol was implemented in the 
mvpmc client. I don't think there is any benefit to using NFS for MythTV 
access currently.

It is fragile in spots. It does regularly reset itself or hang on me. 
But I haven't experienced problems immediately after a reboot. You may 
have other problems occurring, perhaps on your network or back-end.

With respect to the MythTV client in mcpmc, I think little has change in 
that code since perhaps last Fall.

Any key? While playing back video from MythTV? In my experience only 
hitting the "Back/Exit" key (the key below the left navigational key in 
the remote pictured on the right:
