Hey Sorry I don't check this list as often as i probably should. Mike, Indeed HA is involved, as well as recent discussions about the talking head.
My thought is to generate the heads actions on either a standalone or mythtv server. then after the rendering finishes, send the completed stream out to an MVP. For this to work, I'd need to be able to specify which file to play, as well as a way to tell the mvp to play it. Ideally it'd be nice to have some sort of feedback (eg busy playin filename ) so I could avoid collisions, and insure that the current file is played in a timely manner. In a similar thought train, if we could emulate the remote through, say telnet (or web) then a 'computer screen' remote could be crafted (just incase you want to use your handheld to control things, or you lost the remote in some chair ...) I mentioned xine, because they came up with a telnet interface that has both the issuing and reading capabilities, and I have written some HA scripts for the MisterHouse project (http://misterhouse.sf.net ) ( under MHMedia) that exploits this (which I use to control the player on my main mythtv box, from any pc) .... Back to the main thought. Recently there was a post on the MH list about a product from http://themeaddicts.com/pages/mirror.html but $22000 is way out of my budget range. Adding a flatscreen tv and an mvp seems to be an alternative that is technically possible (and WAY more budget friendly). I believe in using (and contributing to ) Open Source projects, so I'll likeley be writing a little glue logic, and (because I like building things for Halloween) a how to dress the unit to be Wife frienldy (Nice frame and 2way mirror not too difficult) Anyways, that is why I asked the question in the first place. It also occurred to me that if these capabilities existed, playlists, and room transfer of currently playing (between mvps) could certainly be created (maybe not exactly, but pretty close say a couple of minutes back on the 'new' second unit (so you can get from the living room to the den , and not miss anything) Mike, just think. Walk into the (pick your morning room) the flat pamel wakes up, MH tells it to play the weather forcast, and whatever else (read email, check the local weatherstation, litterbox whatever) and viola nothing missed overnight (ok summary of webcam activity, and perhaps playing back some segments of interest) Nuff rambling and I'm sure I may have given some others on the list a bit to ponder and hopefully a tad bit of imagineering inspiration :) -Pete Flaherty http://www.mraudrey.net http://www.hauntedacrewoods.com On Sat, January 26, 2008 5:06 pm, Michael Brown wrote: > Hi All! > > Pete's active on the Misterhouse home automation list, and runs a custom image for 3com Audrey's as home control interfaces, so I'm thinking he's got some ideas in mind for HA.
