Ok, that's really confusing. Assuming you are in the states and are
receiving programming over the air. I am guessing you are referring to
the fact that many ATSC stations transmit SD programming (like vintage
TV shows like the original StarTrek) as well as HD programming (like
contemporary shows like Desperate House Wives (why did that show come to
mind??)).

That out of the way, doesn't mvpmc default to the first device? If you
have multiple tuners how do you manage their existence at each boot up?
Are you using udev rules? I would force the NTSC tuner to something
like /dev/video0 and the ATSC tuner to something higher like
/dev/video1. You probably don't even have to bother with the ATSC tuner
if you force the NTSC turner to /dev/video0.

Substitute:
PAL for NTSC
QUAM for ATSC
and
DrWho for Desperate House Wives
...where necessary (leave StarTrek alone).

------

Of course if you read the mvpmc wiki on live tv:

...
How do I control which tuner is used by default for Live TV?

MythTV uses the first available tuner with the lowest priority
designation as your live TV tuner, so adjusting priority on your tuners
(in the back-end setup) will control the order in which tuners are used.
...

------

Ug, I guess I'll have to eat my words. I can't get live tv to work
either. Right now I have my mvpmc box knocking on my mythbackend. But,
checking the back end, I see both tuners are available. Looking at the
live TV wiki, I see it doesn't talk about the command line options (-s,
-y, -u, -p). Should we add that, or are they on another wiki page.
And, is that all the options necessary to make live-mythtv work? BTW,
with this set up, I can playback NTSC/stereo videos just fine. I can
even playback ATSC/SD/AC3 videos. But the sound can get out of
synchronization.
