OK. And you're saying if you're on an SD channel you get audio in sync
with the video? Reports on this list indicate that unprocessed ATSC SD
video has sync problems on mvpmc due to the AC3 audio.

In any case, it sounds like the only answer is to modify the mvpmc code
to get the behavior you want.

The only other hack that comes to mind is running a script on your
back-end that repeatedly switches idle tuners to an SD channel. (In my
experience when you use a tuner for Live TV, you get whatever channel
MythTV last set that tuner to for recording.) (The script would need to
obtain the list of idle tuners via wget against the MythTV status page,
parse it, and then use ivtv or similar command line tools to change
channels.)

He said both tuners are HD capable, so why would device ordering matter?

Lets not "second source" our facts the same way government officials do. :-)

That snippet was written by me based on the same second-hand
information. Someone who has actually attempted to force MythTV to use a
specific tuner for Live TV should rewrite that, if it isn't accurate.

The page says:

   Prerequisites

The Live TV feature depends on a direct connection to the MythTV
database on your MythTV server. The Commercial Skip feature describes
   how to enable database access.
