Neal, The "From", "To" and "Hide undated" are located in "Start Date" filter section. It means that they filter the Start Date value of the task.
If you set Hide Undated then all the tasks which do not have Start Date will be hidden. If you set From 2/1/09 then all tasks which have start date 2/1/09 or later will be added to the list If you set To 2/30/09 then all tasks with Start Date on or before 2/30/09 will be added to the list.
