Hey Ken, Thanks for the updated file and yes I meant automatic formatting. I found the same issue with MLO of NOT being able to do much with the default tasks. I dealt with this by doing most of my “theme” formatting from two automatic formatting rules. I have one for “folders” and one for “not folders.” Since automatic formatting rules aren’t in the themes file I felt that simply sharing the mlthm files wasn’t giving the “whole” picture.
Anyway, I do have two tricks that I wanted to mention. First is with the background and line feature. I don’t have the best of vision so I tend to use “high contrast” backgrounds. My two formatting rules use a darker and lighter shade of gray. My initial task background is the darker shade of gray. This is used in the groups ToDO lines. My folders use the darker gray with the lighter gray as the underline. My other tasks switch those two so the lighter is the background and the darker is the underline. I use a 2 setting on the underline. This allows the underline to only show up when folders are next to each other or tasks are next to each other. When a folder is followed by a task the underline of the folder “merges” into the background of the task. Task underlines will then merge into folders backgrounds when the folder is below. To me this gives a very clean uncluttered appearance. My second trick is with the red/amber/green date fields. I found that if the top color was lighter but the bottom three colors were the same, the text was much easier for me to read. Again my vision isn’t very good so stuff like that matters to me. Anyway, it’s interesting to see what others are doing with MLO.
