Prior to emailing about this, I created a profile on the Android using the
same name as my profile on the desktop.  I then downloaded server changes
which put all desktop tasks on the android.  I then added a task to the
Android, changed sync to local version and synced.  My desktop didn't
indicate any type of syncing had been done (no dialog box etc).

I will try your suggestions out tonight, noting exactly what I did.
