My current understanding might be different from the last time we discussed this. I believe that dropbox is a good idea if: 1. Dropbox is supported on every platform where you run MLO 2. MLO uses a single interchangeable file format across every platform where you run MLO. 3. You only use MLO on one device at a time, and you close it before going to a different device. 4. You never use MLO disconnected, i. e. without Internet access.
Apparently there are many people who use MLO on multiple Windows machines (including various tools for simulated Windows on Apple) where this might be not only feasible but also valuable, such as a person who has MLO installed on Windows machines at home and at work. If mobile platforms were to use the same file format it would be possible to extend these benefits there as well. However, in my opinion the would be a high risk of users violating the third precondition (one device at a time) and getting into trouble unless some sort of interlock prevented all new logins while any login remains open. -Dwight Mark Levison <[email protected]> wrote: »We hear an appeal for dropbox to do something miraculous every 3-4 »mths.
