I know some of you have systems for what to do with tasks on which you are
waiting for someone else or something else to happen. I don't have all that
many, and I've never come up with a structured way to handle these. Lately
I have been using a new method that's working well that I wanted to share.

Usually what I would do is move the start date of the task into the future.
The issue with this, is that when I see the task I then have to remember
what it was I was waiting for on that task. Also, some of the tasks have a
recurrent pattern, in which case they are difficult to move into the
future, particularly on android.

So I've been adding a sub task (which is easy on both platforms) , which I
name, "waiting for…" plus the condition I'm waiting on, making the parent
inactive. I then move this task to the date in the future that I want to
take a look at it again. When I complete the "waiting for…" task, its
parent becomes active in my list.

This way, my mind doesn't keep reminding me of the task and the fact that
I'm waiting for something.
