Hi, Jorgen.
The last major release of MLO for IOS was a long time ago, I think that
it might have been in 2014. After that release was stabilized, MLO
developers turned to Android, and Apple users watched as an impressive
array of new features were rolled out to Android users. The release now
being developed for IOS brings those users the features that Android
users have had for a while now, and also some new ones that we Android
users don't have. My guess is that it's likely that after this Apple
release stabilizes, Android will catch up. I know that there is a
different codebase for Android and Apple; I believe that the devs tried
for a unified codebase but found it infeasible. I don't know the details
but maybe you can find it in the blog somewhere. I agree with you that
it would be nicer if the MLO devs could roll out new features across
Apple and Android in a more nearly synchronized fashion, and I think
that the delay has gotten shorter and will probably continue to get
shorter but I am not really expecting it to get short enough to make you
happy.
To be fair, you should recognize that the features you are looking at
are not available on Apple either. You are looking at announcements of
features in development for a future release on Apple and comparing them
to the current market version of Android.
For what it's worth, I can confirm that the ability to create/set/clear
flags is not yet available on Android, although the current Android
version is able to create views that include or exclude tasks with
specified flags. Also, now that you are being more specific I can
confirm that the statistics page and the purge/archive feature are not
available on Android, although your earlier references to "counters" and
"delete" functionality could be confused with currently available
functionality.
And finally, I was interested to learn that you had to "rip out an arm
or a leg paying for the mobile app." MLO/Android is free, and in my
opinion the free version is among the very best task managers available.
You can upgrade to the Pro version for about $25USD. Do you hold your
arms and legs to such a low value that you would rip one out for $25USD?;-)

Hi Elizabeth,
If you don't use flags, that does not mean they cannot be useful for
others ;-)
If you look at the blog here
http://blog.mylifeorganized.net/2016/05/mlo-ios-archive.html you see
in settings a "statistics" tab. I don't see that in Android. The
option "Archive / purge tasks" is also not present. As for using the
Windows version to compensate for missing features, not everyone who
already ripped out an arm or a leg paying for the mobile app, has done
so to buy the Windows counterpart. And, I run Linux exclusively anyway.
If you are sure that statistics counters are in the Android version,
could you show me where? I might just not look in the right place. For
all other options, I stand by my question, why the difference in
features for platforms, and will they ever be added to the Android
version?

1. Flags - not sure if that is on Android. I don't use them in either
Android or Windows.
2. Counters - these exist in Android.
3. Deletion/Archive - not sure what you mean by deletion of items; you
can delete in Android. For archiving, I synchronize to my Windows
platform and let it do the archiving.

Hi,
I read three neat items on the MLO blog, exclusive for iOS it
seems. Flags, counters, deletion / archiving of items, which all
sound useful for all mobile users. Is there any timeline if these
features are going to be ported to Android? I understand platforms
diverging as the codebase is most likely in a different language,
but wouldn't it be more fair to release the same feature
semi-parallel across all devices?
