By "same network", he means the network address and netmask should be the same (the same LAN). We have found you are not on the same LAN. It's a common business layout to require the WLAN devices be a completely separated from the company computer network. This is for security purpose, and the only way your company could make it work is to make an exception such as a special WiFi for you to connect on the same LAN as your desktop.
Normally it's not a good idea for security, to make this exception.
