It's not a problem on my Dell laptop. MLO is honouring the hotkey assignments I've given it, including Ins or Alt+Ins for new task or subtask. If that doesn't work for you, maybe you should try resetting the hotkey assignments to default (there's a button for that under Tools-Options-Hotkeys) and then re-assigning them all?
