Global position filter sounds neat. Kinda unrelated to this bugreport though.
"input dependency" is something I don't understand. Do you mean which input
device we change the brush for?
Here's some concept work:
I was envisaging some careful editing of brushes so that all properties were
set to default except the pertinent ones, on the effect brushes. This isn't
something that can be combined with a non-default effect WRT the pertinent
settings.
Alternatively, some separate palette of simply-parametrizable brush effects
could be provided. I was hoping that another dialog was not necessary though.
I'm basically trying to shortcut the requirement that if you want to combine
a brush with an effect, you have to either do much clicking or some careful
copy/pasting between brush files.
(having half a dozen effect-variations of the same brush in the brushes
dialog == painful)
