Follow-up Comment #9, bug #17253 (project mypaint):
David, the safe way to run an experimental mypaint version is ."/mypaint -c
conf".
Then it will not disturb your normal configuration directory and brush
collection, but create a new directory called "conf". This is especially
important if the config file syntax has changed. You can also copy your
~/.mypaint directory somewhere and give the path to this copy, instead of
"conf".
