Follow-up Comment #5, bug #17656 (project mypaint):
I think we need something there as a placeholder. What about something like
"(untitled)" at all times, in small text or italics or something similar. The
current layer is always highlighted, so "click to select" seems a little
silly.
What about putting the "double click to change name" text in a tooltip over
the current item?
