Follow-up Comment #1:
Please supply a use case for giving the scratchpad a separate background.
Currently we have code to keep the two in sync, so you'll need to explain why
some scratchpads will need their own background first.
Could you raise a separate wishlist bug for the brush radius wish please?
It's an interesting idea, and has come up in IRC discussions before now
(keeping all changes to the brush separate from the base brush). It'd take
some retooling internally though, and it might be quite a major thing
(previous attempts to do something similar have been hacky, e.g. the eraser
brush size multiplier, but the new BrushModifier might give us a way of doing
this nicely).
