There are several options available to Newbies. (speaking as a newbie, I can tell you :-D ).
1) I've heard that Knoppmyth is a great way to go to minimize required-linux-knowledge. I have never used it, but my understanding is it's pretty straightforward, and requires little user intervention (depending on your setup).
2) As I said, I too am a newbie... I downloaded the "Fedora Core 2" distro an installed Myth using Jarod's guide (the guide will also guide you through the installation of Linux, if you require it!!). It's clear, concise... and the real advantage of going this route is that you learn a bit of linux on the way!!! Jarod's guide can be found here:

You can always read it over and see whether you think it's up your alley. My guess is you will have very few problems going this route-- it really is step by step. The great part is, when/if you run into trouble there are plenty of great net-based resources (including this list) that are always available!

Is it a really complex procedure (that it seems to be), or is there a simple step-by-step guide of what to do that even a monkey could follow? (Not that I'm a monkey, but when it comes to Unix/Linux, my exposure has only been about 99% just using it, from a shell prompt, and not installing/compiling/configuring it.) Are there any ISO images that I can download to get started?
I guessing that many of my questions may be answered in the archives, but I haven't been able to find out how to search them like I can do with the Yahoo or Google news groups... Is there one?
