This has been discussed recently, but basically this is normal for MythTV.
Keep in mind that you're not really watching "Live" TV, even when you think you
are. It's *always* being recorded to MPEG2, then it is decoded to video when
you watch it on the frontend. (This is true wether you run the frontend
locally or on a remote system). So even though the tuner card switches to the
new channel almost immediately, MythTV has to buffer a couple of seconds before
it can be displayed on your Monitor/TV by the frontend.

BTW: I have a Dish Network PVR system, and it's actually the same thing -- it
takes 3-5 seconds to change channels. The only difference is that when I
change channels on the DP, the screen goes black until the new channel is
tuned. (With MythTV, the image 'freezes' until the new channel is tuned.)

So the best bet is to get out of the 'channel surfing' mode and use the Browse
feature or the Guide to find the channel you want to watch, then select it.
