Rich Asked: >Has anyone implemented an internal infra red receiver for use with lirc? I'm in the UK, so I guess maplins will be a source of parts for such a venture.
On a slightly similar note, I've got a Asus Pundit-R which has two (blue) LED's that shine through a clear plastic strip that runs the height of the case, there is plenty of room to stick something there and I plan to stick a IR receiver in there[1]. It's also nice because the Pundit-R has a serial port with a header cable so it would be possible to do it without having to run a cable out and back in[2]. I'm rather stuck though at what IR detector to buy atm though, I mean would Maplin part CH11M be suitable? http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=10379&TabID=1&source=15&WorldID =&doy=3m2 Actually looking at it I might get one anyway and have a try as they're only 39p!! Druid [1] And stick some more LED's behind it to show tuner/recording/backend status. [2] Although I have plans to l/c it which would stick big tubes out but nevermind ;-)
