I am posting this message again because nobody responded the first time. It is difficult to believe that no one out there is using a Sound Blaster Audigy sound card.
It sounds like you have the Line-In for playback enabled. Mute it. Leave the Line-In for recording unmuted. I can't verify those settings because I'm at work right now. Alsa mixer has some F keys you can push so you can experiment with various settings till you achieve the affect.
