I have been using NFS with myth since I started back in tghe .12 days. my file server has 8 120 gig drives (raid 5) and I have allocated about 500 gig for myth. When I record shows/movies etc from Myth I record over NFS to my file server. This gives you the option of firing off another frontend and still have access to all your recordings.

never had a problem with this setup over NFS. I have only had some problems with the backend going off to never never land and not recording but that is a problem here and not with NFS setup

Subject: [mythtv-users] NFS?

Okay, I'm a little (lot( shake on network file systems. A friend of
mine is recommending that, instead of giving my mythTV a huge amount
of storage, I throw my disk space at a file server that gets mounted
on the MythTV machine. This way, I have more multi-purpose storage
space.

Can anyone tell me the merits and flaws of having this sort of setup
in MythTV? Thanks!
