Thanks Nathan, and to the others who replied. Sound like I'd have more chance making it run on my linksys router (o: I might go looking for an xbox then.... could someone tell me what the volume levels of the xbox are compared to a quiet pc? I'm guessing that's going to be the most pain free way to get a quiet(ish) front end. That way I can just move the pc back to the study where the whirr of PCs are accepted (o:Thus spake Dmitri Colebatch:Hey all,I have a friend who uses his xbos as a front end, as I believe many people do, and was wondering if anyone is using a ps2 as a front end, and if there were any howtos on the subject. The only post I could find is this one (http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/23997?search_string=ps2;#23997) but it's not answering any of my questions. Any tips out there? Not likely to happen. I have a PS2 with the Linux kit, and it does not have the oomph needed to be a frontend. It's a little endian MIPS machine running at I want to say somewhere in the ~200-300 mHz range, with 32mb of RAM. It does of course have the GPU, but that would have to be specifically coded for. It also has to run a quite very old kernel, which can be annoying. cheers dim |
