Did you copy the /dev/video* files to the udev directory per the guide? I'm thinking that maybe your backend is not seeing the devices because they are not there during startup. I believe doing that copy makes udev put them in place during bootup so they are available to other programs. I'm sorting through issues as well, just started setting this up last week so if this is way off track...... -- Scot L.
