What format is best for recording on a backend that has a bt878 card

Oh, some followup questions. How do I make different capture cards use
different encodings/recording profiles? I didn't see anything in the
database that appears to tie a card to a particular recording profile.
Where is that setting located?

Hardware details would be helpful. Why look in db? Why not
Utilities/Setup -> Setup -> TV Settings -> Recording Profiles? If you
are thinking of putting mulitple tuners in a "wimpy" backend to record
multiple shows at once, forget it. When I first started my MythTV
adventures, I used a Duron 800 w/ a "software" tuner. While it was
great at recording and playing back later (VCR). It was brought to it's
knees trying to watch live TV.
