You're right the second time.  On the ConvertX hardware there's no way to
feed raw video from the computer to be compressed by the encoder.  I'm not
sure this would be entirely desirable anyway; given that the ASIC is
designed as a real-time encoder, things like run-length two-pass encoding
are not possible.  -Nathan
