Do you have any experience with VGA (RGBHV) directly into TVs?

Some Sony CRTs (both HD, and HD-ready) sold in Australia have a
component/RGB input with optional H&V sync, meaning you can connect VGA
directly.

This should be better and cheaper than component video from what I've
read. (Component would be either via 9A60 or high-end video card.)

Nobody in Australia is selling DVI/HDMI-capable CRTs unfortunately.
