Tom:

I'm using FC2, initially set up with the (invaluable) help of Jarod's guide. To be honest, I eliminated KnoppMyth as a distro because my goal was a fun project as much as a PVR (I allready have TiVo, so there was no pressing need to get the PVR up and running). Also, I thought that setting up Myth would go a long way to familiarizing me with Linux (which it has!!).

Now that I'm this close, though, I'm dying to cancel my TiVo subscription!!! :-)

From my reading it sounds like I'll have to bite the bullet and recompile with the XvMC flag set to on.... I guess I'll just brace myself for a long (and probably painful night). Maybe I'll check first to see if Axel has released his RPMs with XvMC support included.... :-)

Not using libmpeg2 either...

Not helping me much here... :)

I *tried* to use XvMC yesterday... but when I tried to watch TV I got the error message, "Error Initializing Video". Does Myth still need to be recompiled manually in order to support XvMC? Is there something else I need to do to get it up and running...?

No idea. I haven't had to compile it yet...

I'm SOOOO close.... so close. I can taste it... but I can't yet watch it!! :-D

I may have missed it, but what distribution are you running? I used the latest KnoppMyth, and it just worked. I had to tweak a couple of things, but aside from that it was pretty painless.
