Actually I was incorrect with this observation. If I let the mythfrontend run for some time it spikes up to 92% CPU even if the video out on the i819 is used.

I do see prebuffering messages constantly, like every second when the PVR-350 is used for the output to the TV but if the i810 is used.

Could this be because the backend is too slow or too fast when the PVR-350 is used? Is there a way to tune around this? Others have to running with similar configs, so hopefully I don't need to upgrade the box to something with a faster CPU. It seems to me the video quality is a bit better with the PVR output vs. the i810 video quality.

Thanks,

Hello all

I recently built a Mythbox using a Dell GX110 which is an 800mghz machine.
When using the video out on the built in video card playback looks good, but when I use the PVR-350 for playback the video is choppy but the overall picture quality is great.

I noticed that the mythfrontend program is taking 90% of the CPU, but when I use the onboard video card (i810) it uses 50% of the CPU.
I followed the directions from http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php to do the initial install.
Not sure where I should start looking to see why using a different video source would use so much more CPU for the mythfrontend. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
