3.4GHz is the fastest S478 CPU that my local supplier carries, but that
should be sufficient, shouldn't it?
Is there nobody on this list using the Digimatrix for 1080i?
I have been researching the Digimatrix for quite some time. It can ONLY ONLY ONLY use the Northwood core P4 procs. The max speed as I recall was only 2.8GHz (something like that). They stopped making these procs so finding them might be difficult. From what I understand, the remote IR sensor (onboard) is STILL included in the newer versions that have the plug in for the keyboard IR. I have found a forum that is strictly for LINUX development of this box.

Some people are using this as a backend/frontend machine. I think that is a little silly personally. It is IDEAL for a frontend only machine. You have 10/100 and 1GBs Ethernet onboard. I would take out the WIFI card and the "tuner" card. From what I hear, it's a piece and super difficult to setup. It's got SPDIF optical out (all-be-it on the front). It can handle 1080i but NOT 1080p. The video can be a challenge to setup for non linux users. I would try and network boot it off of my backend. That way it can run with out a HDD and be even quieter. All in all, an EXCELLENT project. Just my 2 cents.
