What card, what drivers (generic or nVidia's)? If the latter, did you
re-compile for the newer kernel? Is it totally "broke" (no video at
all?), or just not working in X?
If you're using nVidia's drivers you will normally need to re-compile
for any change in the kernel, even a minor one, and especially for a
version bump.
Anything in the X log? Any on-screen messages?

Right, but I went to get them and they aren't there. The nvidia site only has amd64, which is what I have, but I'm running in 32 bit mode. I got my original set from atrpms, but none are yet available there for my setup.
