Thanks - I hadn't thought of that.  However, nothing appears to get
serialised to config.xml for the BatchMode module.  It always looks like
this even after having created and run a batch queue:

<parameter name="Peak lists"/>
<parameter name="Batch queue"/>
</parameters>
</module>
