Maybe OpenRISC CPU? There is a Debian Linux based distro in the works...and OpenRISC is officially supported in the Linux kernel now I believe.

It's a very nice modern RISC processor with MMU, and all the modern conveniences. Runs on an FPGA. All Open Source.

I've gotten one running on a DE0-Nano FPGA board with a single FPGA UART peripheral....boots linux in a minimal config, and runs nicely on the DE0-Nano.
