how on earth do you come up w/ enough to say to have a newsletter every 2 weeks?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Well, if you know me, I am a wordy person.hahaha. First, I read A LOT. I tear articles out of magazines and store them in a file and I never copy word for word but I type up info from articles. I don't write every article by myself but I would prefer to. I have a schedule for the girls I work with and it is their responsibility to get me articles when it is their turn. Example - if you do hair then every 3 newsletters it is your turn to turn in an article. As much as I would like them to be creative, they are not. They will just pick up a bottle of shampoo and write something about it. I try to write articles that will talk about a service and products in one or just about a service, or things clients may find helpful. Just talking about a product sounds too "selling" to me. When I first came up with the idea to do this the thing that scared me was that I would not have enough info to post every 2 weeks. But, it has been 7 years now that I have been doing it!!! In creating your newsletter you first have to come up with your basic format. We ( the salon owner Barb and I) decided the top should contain our name, hours, address, link to oursalon2u.com , any awards, etc. Then I came up with "catchy" phrases for each article.salon happenings, hair news, etc. Every now and again I add a new article, like when we have a class I post it under education and share info about who went, what was learned, where it was, etc. The Go Green was a new section this past year and has generated a lot of conversation between clients and I. I am now going to add a recipe section as it seems clients enjoy finding quick, fast, healthy foods and that is how I eat. The point is to do fairly short articles to start conversations, to keep YOU in your clients mind - especially if they are clients who maybe only come every few weeks, to share info and knowledge with others.makes me look even smarter when they know I have all this knowledge! LOL It takes me about an hour every other Monday, not a lot of time, but it has a lot of impact. With almost everyone on the internet it is the perfect way to send your info for free. Remember, I also print copies to have in the salon too, that way people who are not signed up for it can read it and often they will decide to receive it.
