Haha! LCN IS gel... They call it resin for marketing purposes.  It costs about
three times what Brisa costs.  They market this product as "organic..."
Smilz... And, as a whole, the "general public" has no clue what that really
means!  Haha!  How many times have we had THAT discussion in here, ladies?
Giggles...

I have used this LCN product. From every application I have laid-- assuming its
chemical formula is still the same as it was about 2 years ago-- you only get
about 80% cure on it....

MEANING the 20% that is left remaining is the "dispersion" layer; i.e., that
which chemically is unable to "cure.". SO.. With most gel systems, you simply
apply your next layer of gel on top of the dispersion (tacky) layer so it can
bond (cure) to it, etc etc, creating the artificial nail.

With LCN, the dispersion layer is so great, you have to wipe it off, buff, and
apply more product after curing each layer...

So.. In light of the cost of this product AND the amount of it that doesn't
cure.... I never understood why anyone ever uses it!

But, most techs who use LCN around here charge like 75.00 for a set of P/Ws and
45.00 for 2wk fills!  And I guess they have to in order to purchase it!

Anyway... That was my experience with LCN.... Maybe I just didn't know how to
hold my mouth!

She at first came in to me asking me if I could help her with Gels  and
Acrylics. I agreed.
Then  she asked me to help her with Resin, but she confused me when she
said the resin looked like gel. That is when I came here for help. I thought
I was losing my mind. Because I learned that Resins were in the same family
as Silk and Fiberglass and she was talking resin-gel. That is what I
originally wanted to clarify.
THEN she tells me that the Resin she wants help with was LCN and the Salon
owner stated to her that if she brushed up on her gel skills that LCN would
be easier for her. I was taught that LCN was a gel, and now they are saying
resin??
.
I have had little experience with LCN, and I agree with you Melody, it IS a
different product.

Nothing like a bunch of marketing hooey to get this Nail Technician growing
an extra few gray hairs!
Thanks everyone :)

Dayna,

If she is being required to use LCN...and asking you to teach her... She is
asking you to teach her that particular gel system.

I am basing this solely on the previous posts... Please scroll down....

Based on your description here, she is trying to learn LCN.  Make sure she
is correctly communicating to you the system she is trying to learn because
to me, I am not hearing "wraps" on any level.

And, if it is LCN.... Be prepared to use a product that is totally different
than any other gel system I have ever experienced!! Haha!! TRUST ME!

The reason why I am askingis that I want other nail techs to back me up in
this.
A prospective student is asking me to teach her "resin" and I explained to
her what it is then solidified it with your emails.
The more the merrier please :)
Thanks ladies :)

            Hi Dayna,
Where are you in Ontario? Perhaps I can point  you in the direction of some
solid "NO marketing hooey" education..

I  understand what you have all told me about the Resin, being similar to
Wraps.  However a Nail Salon here in Town say they use LCN Resin that is
similar to a  gel.
Someone  please explain.
