Once you have a fully cured clear base gel.just keep building layers. It'll be nice and smooth and the tacky uncured layer will help bond the two layers together. (and for me.why would I go to all that trouble!!! Lolol) Good luck! Now do I remove tacky from the clear and rough up or apply the gel polish right on top of tacky layer? Basically, I was talking about over anything. I always like to base my gel overlays with a clear coat that I know is fully cured. I *have* used white gel directly over acrylic to do french looks from time to time.but the results are mixed. If the acrylic is not buffed just right, the color *crawls* into the scratch marks made by the buffer.if it's buffed too much, they tend to peel! For consistent results..just take the extra few seconds it takes to scrub on a very thin layer of clear gel..no matter what color comes next. IMHO! In my experience adding pigments to gels makes them act weird and "crawly" <---technical term! Lol Here are some things I'd like to offer on this thread: -For colored gels..no matter the color (even white tips).it's recommended that you put a FULLY CURED clear base down first. Then do your color layer(s) next. -Always err to the side of caution by building color intensity with multiple FULLY CURED thin layers rather than thicker layers. The color pigments are occlusive..the UV light simply cannot fully pass through colored gels to fully cure the lower portion of a layer, let alone other layers that may lie beneath. This leads to my next thing: -When you are going to put any gel other than a completely clear coat over another coat, be sure you FULLY CURE the lower layer before proceeding. -Adding regular polish/lacquer to gels is something I've experimented with.you can get very lovely sheer colors, but adding enough polish to make them opaque changes the chemistry of the gels so much that the resulting nail enhancements simply don't hold up as well. I'd stick with sheers.or buying manufacturer's colors. Hope this helps!!!
