this also happens when one has cancer or I suppose any illness....the body
stops growing the "unimportant" parts ..hair and nails and concentrates all its
strength on healing the "hurt".? IF you don't lose your nails ...there will be
a horizontal ledge ...where the growth stopped temporarily...and then started
again.? The deeper the ridge...the harder the fight...so i've been told.? I
didn't even think of this when someone mentioned horizontal ridges because she
didn't mention being sick but I guess it could happen for stress also...just
probably less of a ridge....

Shannon

What you are referring to is actually a stress line either from physical or
internal (emotional) stress.? I got these after my implant in my neck?2 years
ago.? I noticed that?I have a few coming up my?fingernails since my husbands
hip replacement surgery.?

As we were taught our nails show what is going on internally.? Medically or
stress related.

Got another question for you techs:) I have 3 toes that I noticed had an issue.
There is a line going from sidewall to sidewall and on the matrix side the
toenail is thinner. So you can actually feel the difference at the line. I
thought because my big toe was infected for 2 months that would cause the
problem on the big toe (but there are 2 more toes with that?) Any thoughts?
