Diana, What a wonderful thing for you to do for those who needed it this year. I have been thinking about having a coat drive at the salon. I am not too sure yet, as I have talked to a few teachers about this and was told that they have seen where the kids get a coat and then the next day it is gone. The parent sells it for drugs. I must live in a little bubble. I NEVER would have ever thought a mother could do that. I just do not want the effort from my clients to be futile in the end. This year I sold more GC's than ever in the two weeks before Christmas. I was amazed at the totals! This year most of my GC are for those who come here. I had one call me to get a NFS and a years worth of retouches for his girlfriend. (She had to stop coming because she was laid off) I opted to charge him each time she came in for the retouch instead of one huge chunk. Although that would have been a nice paycheck!!! LOL I cannot understand why everyone is saying the economy is hurting. It is alive and well in this part of Pennsylvania. When I was in Chicago in November, I was amazed to see the shopping frenzies there, too. People ARE spending. Now whether they are overextending I do not know. As for gifts, I could not believe how many clients did that "give your service" amount!!! I only had a few before this year and this year I can get a new wardrobe and take a trip with the monetary gifts! I got some Cardinal bird gifts. My O'Hara died back in November. Actually, she was the salon mascot--she was everyone's bird. Dunkin Donuts GCs, coldstone gc, Kohls gc, cookies and candy, towels, pot holders, etc. This was a very good Christmas for the salon and me. I wish and hope that your town and everyone bounces back. Yipee!!!!!!!So glad to finish my last client last night!!! Odd holidays this year. Our Gift Certificates were way down this year. I only sold two, stylists sold zero. Just odd. Of course you have to realize that our town is so bad financially that as of January 1st they were going to turn out all of our street lights because no money for the electric bill, at least the traffic lights were going to stay on!! But my clients kept me busy, got a couple of new referrals in, received very nice gifts, my clients are sooo good to me. Starbucks is covered until about April!!! heheheh My son has a couple of friends that will receive zero gifts this year, so telling my clients that I am going to make a whole bunch of cookies this morning and wrap them up and give them to these kids. And God love them, started giving me money to go out and get the kids something!!!!! So had a cancellation yesterday and off to the dollar store I go buying toothbrushes, toothpaste, tylenol, cold medicine, things like that so they don't have to spend their own money on basic things. Ahhh,,,,,,the season to give, even when you think you have it rough, there is always those that are worse!!!!!!!!! You all have a super wonderful holiday, whatever you believe in, and Merry Christmas to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! big hug diana from indiana -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "NailTech" group.
