I have given coats before, and know that those LOUSY mom's sell them,
or the sperm donor, or the boyfriend. But realized if someone is
going to pay dollars for a coat for drugs off the streets, then they need them.

But I have gotten burnt on donations before. There are
"professional" poor people out there. Found out years ago they
submit their names to get free stuff. Well okay, fine they need
help, but there are those that do this for a living. I had a client
years ago that worked for an organization that helped those that
needed heat etc. She said that it was discouraging because they know
how to work the system and end up making more money than she does.

But there are those that do need help, and I decided years ago that I
would only give to those that I KNOW that need help. The previous
salon I worked in decided that instead of drawing names, we would
give a Christmas to a family. At first I said no, because of getting
screwed years ago, but one of the stylist was married to a
psychologist and he found us a family, very much in need.

I always throw a dollar in the salvation bucket, those bell ringers,
if they can stand the cold, snow and rain, they can have a few
bucks. I couldn't give much this year, but even a box of wrapped
cookies is better than nothing. Oh well, makes you feel good. Many
have given to me when I have been down, my way of giving back.

And it makes me feel DAMN good!!!! HEHEHEHEHEH diana from indiana
