Oh yea, they will NOT fall down steps! They have a sensor that tells them that they have run out of floor! lol! So, it cleans right up to the edge of the steps, then it zips away and cleans the rest of the rooms. There is a nice filter on the dust compartment too, so it isn't putting dust (or nail dust!) back out into the air. They have excellent customer service too! They replaced my brush unit at no charge when it wasn't working right. No charge for shipping it to me either! If you have a Big Lots in your town, you can buy the roomba there also. Meaning, does it stop or will it go over a step and crash?!!! Thanks. I've had my roomba for 2 years now, LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! You will be amazed at how much dirt it can pick up from even what you thought was a clean floor! I have carpet, hardwood and ceramic tile in my home, and it adjusts for all 3 automatically. I wouldn't hesitate to get one for the salon! Mine has an automatic feature that I can set for it to vaccuum at a certain time every day, it will come out, vaccuum, and then return to the docking station for recharging all by itself! Or, you can push the little button on top and off it goes! They are wonderful for getting under furniture, like beds and dressers, stuff you wouldn't normally move and vaccuum under on a daily basis. I think my home is a LOT cleaner since I started using my little robot buddy! My brother the info tech director turned us onto the roomba. Once you've had one, you won't go back! I personally don't have a Roomba, but, my friend Anita does. She uses it in her home. Anita has 5 cats and white carpet and she swears by that little machine. I have central vac and I'm thinking about getting the Roomba anyway. Let us know how you like it. To: [email protected] Date: Saturday, December 26, 2009, 11:57 PM Hi Maggie! I've had a Roomba for about a year. It does a good job except for corners as you might imagine. What I love about it is you can set it up, turn it on and walk away. Well, most people can walk away....I just had to watch it do it's work! I was amazed at how it was able to vacuum every square inch of the room (except for the corners)! I bought mine at Costco for, I think $249. It was sort of a stop-gap puchase because I was so flippin' tired of dumping the water from my Rainbow (15 yrs of that!) and we were planning to install a central vac this fall. Well, the central vac was installed about a month ago and I love it. And I've been planning to sell my Roomba. It's in excellent condition and you can have it for $100. + shipping. Marsha :>) ps I really enjoyed your Christmas letter! I have a nifty Dyson at home and I started off with my foot planted firmly on the ground saying that I was NOT going to compromise on my choice of vacuums for the salon. But, I don't exactly have an extra $400 that I can pull out of my butt to go out and get a second Dyson right now. And, after several weeks of lugging the home vacuum to the salon on the weekends-- well, I do nails. And you all know how much dust I can create in a short amount of time, vacuuming once a week is not an option. Point is, I need a vacuum cleaner for the salon and right quick too! I'm looking for a compact, upright, preferably with a bag (yeah, I know the Dyson doesn't have a bag and that's the one thing that I hate about it) for around $100 for daily vacuuming. I have commercial carpeting in the salon, no bare floors. Also-- for a long term option, does anyone know if a Roomba would work for the salon? I can't have a Roomba at home, the dogs would kill it! But they are just so freakin cool! I just don't know if it would really be a practical salon vacuum? Anyway-- any thoughts on vacuum cleaners would be appreciated.
