Does she have soak off gels or regular gels? If regular gels, they need to be filed off, if soak off, yes pure acetone. I put down a bowl with hot water first, then a smaller bowl with the acetone, seems to speed up the process. Takes about 15-30 minutes. The gel comes off in pieces, doesn't melt like acrylic. Yes, filing off the top coat will make it easier.
