The point is that its a different kind of gel for a different kind of
service. Classic gels are hard gel, require a structure and fills.
Soak off gels are flexible, to the point that they shouldn't crack
even if you roll a sheet of them between your fingers and it won't
crack. Whether on natural nails or over classic gels (or ac) they are
removed each time (allowing you to see the natural nail underneath and
be able to check for any lift. Most clients can do soak of gels on
their natural nail with great success, but some have naturally thin
nails that just crack way too easy and they may need both classic and
soak off gels (I have just 2 of these clients). Soak off gels, or
"gel polish" can be sold to customers who don't want "fake" nails or
enhancements. Those clients who say "I never get manicures because
the polish doesn't stay so whats the point, and I don't want fake
nails" - those random yearly manicure clients who only come because
someone gets them a gift certificate. It opens a whole new realm of
possibilities. And I know for some they say "well I have a full book
so I don't need any new clients" - but are you making what you want to
make? At 80% its a good time to raise prices which may give you room
for new service, which in turn will fill that space up quickly and
give you opportunity to raise prices again. Anyway I'm a bit on a
tangent. But yes, while soaking off isn't what I do with soak off
gels, they have other properties that make them awesome and a service
all by itself.
