So it seems like people are using the soak off gel as a polish over acrylics
and/or traditional gels?   Do you end up just filing it off or actually soaking
off?

Example:  client comes in for gel french manicure and makes another appt for 2
weeks.... wants to change to a color... now you sit there an soak this stuff
off?  Or do you just file 50% down and do with color this time?

Sorry for all the questions, just confused.

Thanks

The point is that its a different kind of gel for a different kind of service.
Classic gels are hard gel, require a structure and fills. Soak off gels are
flexible, to the point that they shouldn't crack even if you roll a sheet of
them between your fingers and it won't crack. Whether on natural nails or over
classic gels (or ac) they are removed each time (allowing you to see the
natural nail underneath and be able to check for any lift. Most clients can do
soak of gels on their natural nail with great success, but some have naturally
thin nails that just crack way too easy and they may need both classic and soak
off gels (I have just 2 of these clients). Soak off gels, or "gel polish" can
be sold to customers who don't want "fake" nails or enhancements. Those clients
who say "I never get manicures because the polish doesn't stay so whats the
point, and I don't want fake nails" - those random yearly manicure clients who
only come because someone gets them a gift certificate. It opens a whole new
realm of possibilities. And I know for some they say "well I have a full book
so I don't need any new clients" - but are you making what you want to make? At
80% its a good time to raise prices which may give you room for new service,
which in turn will fill that space up quickly and give you opportunity to raise
prices again. Anyway I'm a bit on a tangent. But yes, while soaking off isn't
what I do with soak off gels, they have other properties that make them awesome
and a service all by itself. (watch for 14 new colors from Akzentz soon!!)

just dont understand the point of soak off gels.  I've tried some "soak off"
gels and they did not soak off completely and it took about 1/2 hour for it to
start working.  I did everything they said to do.  I'm with Jess, I'd rather
efile it off than take the time to soak it off.  Just seems like a pain.  > >

Hi Lisa I charge $50 for a gel manicure over natural nails. This includes
removal. I charge $60 (same price as backfill) for gel polish over a standard
clear fill (which is $50). I don't charge any different for french, but will be
charging $5 more when my prices change. I can soak off but I choose to efile it
off. Gel polish oh toes is $50, does not include soak, scrub or massage - just
toe work. And again will include removal. I choose not to charge additional for
removal because I don't want clients thinking they are going to save a buck by
picking off their gel polish - this causes damage and will make them less
likely to come back if they think their nails are being damaged by the product.
This also makes it easy for me to discount their first time, since I know I can
book 15 minutes less than a returning client. I'm surprised how many gel polish
clients I have. But they are a different kind of client than a classic gel
client so its certainly easy to get them in the door! Have fun :) -Jess On Jan

what you charge?  Gel polish over acrylic or gel?  A gel polish fill?  Gel
polish over natural nails?  Do you charge for a gel polish manicure or as an
add on to a manicure?  Also, what about a soak-off french overlay on natural
nails?  Gel polish on toes?? > > Thanks in advance! >   > Lisa Cianciotti >
