Terri,

I've found that if you remove the tacky layer after curing the base coat,
then applying the dark color over that it will not shrink and it cures and
wears fine.  I actually do this with all of the colors.  There is no need to
buff the shine from the base coat either, however, if you got a fuzzy or
dust in there or your nail is ridged or has bumps in it, lightly buffing
will give you a more even surface to apply the color to.
