Michelle,
Not all toenails that have come off do so because of fungus.... mine all came
off from chemo and now that they are almost all back...some look really
crappy...still short and some have vertical ridges...

Just an FYI if you guys deal with anyone with nails growing back in...the new
nail is not always as strong as a regular nail...so it doesn't provide a great
foundation for an enhancement. This can actually make matters worse because
then the enhancement pulls the new growth away from the nailbed! I do build my
fingernails out a little now (they are usually shorter than the other ones) and
they don't always stay on long...well they STAY on but it feels like it is
flapping (VERY slightly) so I remove it and start over...usually lasts about a
week. BUT you have to keep them real short!

What about cross contamination in the gel? The brush touches the fungus then
goes back in the gel. Ick!

I have 3 clients like you describe... over the years I have had tons. I use
dispoable files anyway so no worries of cross contamination... They usually
only last a month depending on how much nail they have to anchor it to, but
they are thrilled to have "normal" feet and become regulars. That allows me to
keep an eye on them, and take them off and replace them if they do anything
weird. I was orginally against the idea, but my client said "What? Like if it
screws something up, they are gonna remove the toenail?!? LOL... already
happened..." so I gave it a shot. I have had no problems over the years. Not
one single problem. It can be a challenge to build though... :)

Can I, and more to the point, should I build a prosthetic gel nail over a nail
that's mostly gone and the remainder is fungal? That just seems like a bad
idea to me, but never having done it before, I want the advice of the experts.

Thanks
