Really? I know that SOG are porous so that makes sense, but how long does it
take for oil to get to the nail plate through the SOG?  No flaming here,
just asking! ;)

All the SOG should allow penetration of oils down to the plate. The
chemistry of SOG makes them porous so they can be soaked off - it does not
matter if we are talking 5 or 40 minutes, they are NOT impervious to acetone
as traditional "hard" gels are.

I would think even with hard gels, oiling cuticles will allow a certain
amount of penetration of oils into the bed from whatever growth area there
is.
