Patti,
I wanted to mention that not every client is a candidate for every
service. I believe Doug Schoon said on the forums last week that
Shellac is meant for a client with HEALTHY nails. Personally I belive
that applies to all these new soak off gel polishes. Any client being
transitioned from acrylics or gels will almost definitely experience
breakage and possibly free edge lifting in the beginning.
Just as we make a determination if a client will get acrylic or gel,
we have to stop and think about of this client is going to do well on
a gel polish service if that is what she is requesting. Perhaps this
one client - since none of your other people are having problems - is
just not a candidate for this type of service?

I was thinking about this a lot today due to one of my clients
coming in. I don't think she could ever
wear the SOG's because of the way her nails are built. Her stress
point is half way down the nail and just overall assessment of how
they are. Is it possible she just isn't a good candidate and needs
the strength of acrylic? She may be getting too much "play" in the
nail which causes them to peel. I hope I was clear in describing my
thoughts Pati.
Also Pati, what base and top coat are you using?

I will just take the over enhancement part of this one Della!
You can apply Gelish (eco, Shellac or any of these new soak offs)
over acrylics or hard or soft gels. You need to file them off
because soaking could breakdown and have ill effects on the
acrylic/gel underneath. It should not take you any real time to get
it off, just remove it at the time you would thin out the
enhancement while prepping for the fill.
