If the seal on the tips is broken, stuff will get between the shellac and the nail or between layers of shellac. I have had this happen on a few people with hard gel as well as shellac. My only guess is that they use their tips so much that they ware the tips so much that the seal is broken. Shellac is softer than hard gels and even easier to ware off if they use the tips of their nails to do everything. I watch how they pick up the business card with their next appointment on it that I have deliberately laid flat on the table so that I can see how they pick it up. The clients who have had brown tips scratch away at the table top until they catch an edge of the business card.

She's not tanning or coloring hair or smoking. The tips are brownish as though exposed to self tanner.
