Patti,
I see SO much of that here n AZ. I don't even want to get started. No one comes in 2 weeks it's always 3 and want to pay half of what they should. Some I don't see back until the salon has another special going. Really makes you think! Sheryl Goldberg Wicked Hair & Nails Phoenix, AZ. I had a client last week... she had been my client when I lived in NY previously for about 5-6 years... and then came back to me when I returned to NY about almost 4 years ago. I was sick for about a year so I didn't work during that period but when I started back up she came again. She now (used to be not so particular) is a natural and white client... likes her "smile" line straight across, prefers a flat nail (as opposed to a nicely c-curved nail) wears them short and square. FINE..I will do what she wants...Np <smiling thru gritted teeth> Probably did her nails for a year straight this past time and then she had hip replacement surgery and wanted her nails off until she could get back...ok np... she got a full set of above described nails on Oct. 19th... oh I forgot to mention she is a tiny lady with teeny nailbeds... like a child's AND they are spoon shaped...which means they grow upward. So I tip them and I like to use NSI french fin tips for that... which means they are smiling and not straight. (smile lines) ok... I don't hear from her again until last week. That is 6-7 weeks later! They are now long, oval (kinda) she files off chips and breaks..so they don't really HAVE a shape... and ugly! When I shortened them... they were basically almost off.. just a little left.... and that didn't even get all the uneven sides gone...so i needed to use forms under some to repair the corners. ok... she is done...straight smile lines, natural color and no roundness to her nails...she is happy. She goes to pay me and says "umm I might need change"...ok I say ..."np I'll go get my wallet" .."oh no here.. I found that 5.00" ...and with that said she puts down 25.00 .... I add "umm...today was a backfill (and a half) and that is 32.00 ..so do you still need me to get some change?" She is flabbergasted! "32.00... OMG so expensive! How do THEY do it for 20.00?" Now my blood is boiling... I am thinking 6-7 weeks and a million repairs and neglected nails and you compare me to THEM! so I say, " Well it might start out at 20.00 for THEM, but then you would have had at least 8 repairs at like at least 3.00 each. and don't forget the extra charge THEY will add for the gel sealer that I have always used included in my price. That is usually 5.00 extra THERE also. So that would be like 49.00 by the time they were finished!! " She just kept mumbling, "how do people afford this price?" I was so pissed..I actually told my husband and a friend later...to which the friend replied, " 32.00 divided by 6 weeks is like 5.00 a week for nails...a small price to pay for looking good!" I am seriously thinking of just not finding a spot for her when she calls back.... she just so got on my nerves! grrrrrrrrrrr..... Pati 'Good friends are like stars... You don't always see them, But you know they are always there. -----Original Message----- From: Kelley Marie <[email protected]> To: NailTech <[email protected]> Sent: Tue, Dec 7, 2010 2:56 am Subject: NailTech:: every 6-7 week client Ok gals I'm tired of clients who come every 6/7 weeks with at least 3 breaks and expect to pay my reg fill price. how do you handle this? I am not expensive to begin with my 2 week fill is 22 and a 3 week fill is 25. I have always done free repairs when you come every two weeks ( and rarely have to do any). If I go by my price list her fill will be 25 and each repair 2 bucks so if she has 3 repairs that is 31 and my full Sets are 30. need advice if you have any I am posting a new price list this week for next year. and will be adhering to it strickly.
