On another note...are you all experiencing natural nail clients who seek the gel polish mani, that are now having unrealistic expectations of the product? I had a client stand me up this week. I have been doing gel polish manis on her since August.

Angie,

I totally agree with you. I think the media hype of No Chip Manicure has put visions of grandeur in the clients heads! No Chip means it won't chip no matter what they do right? We all know that is far from reality though. I personally stopped calling it a No Chip.

I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you but I am seeing the same as you are. Honestly this is what I have expected all along. Now I am putting a thin layer of hard gel under the soak off gel and I am getting wonderful results. I am filing off because the acetone was drying their nails sooo bad. Jess suggested it and thankyou Jess. Now these are on my reg clients that I see every two weeks.

I think for some, especially those transitioning from an acrylic service or hard gel this is a good idea short term. The soaking with acetone yes can be very drying, especially every 2 weeks. I have been using the eco Removal Solution or acetone mixed with eco Accelerating Complex ( http://www.manicuresthatlast.com/catalog/accelerating-complex-p-323.html ) This puts added ingredients into the acetone to greatly reduce the drying effects of the acetone. It absolutely also slightly decreases soak time 0 just make sure you give the bottle a nice shake before use!

A certain amount of breakage will happen, after all these are still natural nails. Right now I have 2 cracks, one repaired, one I am baby'ing until tomorrow when I will repair them. My method is similar to repairing a crack in acrylic or gel. Thin or "V" the crack area. Apply clear UVGP gel. Sprinkle on some clear acrylic powder, cure, repeat. Buff to smooth, one more coat of clear to the whole nail and cure. I have had a lot of success with this. You can also use fiberglass or silk right into the wet gel.
